LABAN Theatre

Laban is a non-profit civil organisation that was legally established in 2009 in Lebanon, specialising in cultural, artistic, and theatrical interventions. They believe that these interventions are a social need, a belief that has driven the team to create a space for communication, discussion and expression - allowing their members to express their realities without judgement or restriction. Laban also use other interactive theatrical and artistic tools to create safe spaces for dialogue, storytelling and improvisation. They aim to contribute to the advancement of civic engagement, promoting freedom of expression, and increasing empathic bonds within and between different communities in Lebanon. They have used their different forms of theatre in local communities, schools, universities, rehabilitation centres, hospitals, prisons, and many other settings. The topics vary from social, political, psychological, and other emerging themes, with a high degree of flexibility in utilising artforms to cater to the topics and the community.
