Around the World in 80 Raves
Supporting music developments in places of conflict
2021 saw the first edition of Around the World in 80 Raves as a sponsored activity challenge meets global rave; money raised supported two amazing music developments in São Paulo, Brazil and Cape Town, South Africa.
With live events back in full force, we are partnering with some of the best venues and festivals around the world raising money for IPOW's #HackMusic Catalyst Fund, supporting the development of music makers around the world - particularly in communities facing challenges of conflict, poverty and lack of opportunities and infrastructure.
For every £1 raised for the fund, £14 is leveraged in wrap around support
(through capacity building, education, training, equipment, mentoring and sustainable development opportunities).

#HACKMUSIC is an innovative, pioneering education programme developed by In Place of War. It will help support the development of music makers around the world - particularly in communities facing challenges of conflict, poverty and lack of opportunities and infrastructure. Money raised through Around the World in 80 Raves will go towards:
Through the #HackMusic programme, we will be offering a platform to the voices of some of the worlds most marginalised communities.
Cultural space and music studio development, coupled with training from music industry professionals. To date we have helped to establish music spaces in Colombia, Palestine, Uganda and South Africa. We have a network of over 100 cultural spaces that inform what we do.
Network development via our 130 grassroots change-maker organisations - keeping them connected and sharing methodologies.
Capacity building through our University certified creative entrepreneurship programmes, sharing entrepreneurial ideas with our grassroots change-makers so they can develop the most robust and relevant models for sustainable, impactful organisations in the most challenging contexts in the world.
Global Music Industry Advisory Board connections, expertise and support made up of 23 of the biggest music companies in the world, including Spotify, Downtown Music Publishing, Fuga, Insomniac and many more.
Platforms for exposure and increasing visibility - brokering deals for grassroots artists in conflict zones without access to route to market (economic). We work with global festival platforms and have helped our artists reach over 1m people via physical and digital channels.
Equipment gifting via donations and our relationships with the biggest music equipment manufacturers in the world (including Roland, Native Instruments, Pioneer DJ, Yamaha and Ableton)
