VOICES OF THE REVOLUTION
In Place of War artist mobility and production programme
Voices of the Revolution (VOR) is a project bringing international artists from sites of conflict together with UK artists, to create new musical works toured across a range of UK festivals. From 2012 - 2017, the project has reached live audiences of over 200,000 people and over 500,000 people online, and we have worked to mobilise over 120 musicians from 25 countries.
Through our research we have discovered how creativity serves as a powerful tool in times of social and political upheaval and crisis, and consequently some of the most powerful and innovative art is created by people facing the most challenging circumstances. Through our production work, we seek to give these artists access to a larger international platform to tell the more emotive stories of war and everyday life in their communities, thus giving UK audiences access to a new richer, more diverse and sometimes challenging body of work.
Using our vast international network of incredible artists, In Place of War curates work for a range of institutions, festivals, galleries and spaces. We partner with a range of UK and International Festivals, plus music industry trade bodies and media. The project brings a range of musicians from all over the world to the UK to collaborate, create and perform to new audiences.
