Festival Development Programme (FDP)

The Festival Development Programme is a structured programme of activities covering twelve key themes. Each unit is accompanied by a detailed lesson plan outlining the aims and activities to be delivered in the session. Concurrently, students take part in ‘The Ethical and Cultural Tourism Challenge’ which they will present at the end of the course. ‘The Ethical and Cultural

Tourism Challenge’ enables students to develop and present a proposal for a festival, and includes participation in a workshop to support students in their preparation. The workshop session enables students to apply ideas and concepts learnt throughout the course and to develop a creative business plan.

Aims

  • To expose learners to diverse models and practices using live case studies from across the world.

  • To facilitate the development of critical thinking, life and business skills, through the classroom activities and ‘The Ethical and Cultural Tourism Challenge’

  • To develop a real-life business plan/proposal for a festival.
