“In Greek mythology, Charon is the ferryman who guides souls across the River Styx to the underworld, demanding a coin as payment, traditionally placed in the mouth of the deceased. More than just a mythological figure, he symbolises transition and rebirth, representing transformative crossings between life, death, and self-discovery. In this new series of paintings, I seek to explore this symbolism through the creation of fantastic coins, made from a combination of minerals, substances, or symbolic elements, which may represent the essence of these journeys—whether marked by the search for healing, personal transformation, or connection with deeper dimensions of existence.”
